Hematuria

Hematuria occurs when red blood cells are present in the urine. It can be visible to the naked eye or viewed under a microscope.

Often, hematuria resolves over time, but people with the condition should consult their doctor because it can be a sign of a more serious condition.

Treatment for hematuria varies, so generally patients need a series of tests, including urinalysis, kidney imaging or other tests to find the cause and treat the condition.
